Tokens vs Credits on Cam Sites — What Am I Actually Buying?
If you're new to cam sites, the token/credit system can be confusing. Every platform uses their own currency and the math isn't always obvious. Here's the breakdown.
Chaturbate Tokens
Chaturbate uses "tokens." As a viewer, you buy them in packages. The more you buy, the cheaper they get per token. At the biggest package, each token costs about $0.08. When you tip a performer, they receive roughly $0.05 per token (Chaturbate takes a ~40% cut).
So if you tip 100 tokens (~$8 to you), the performer gets about $5. It's not a great exchange rate, but it's the standard across the industry.
How Tipping Works
Most performers have a "tip menu" — a list of actions with associated token amounts. Think of it like a restaurant menu but for requests. Common items range from 10-25 tokens for simple things up to 500+ tokens for premium requests.
There are also "tip goals" where the performer sets a token target and the audience collectively tips toward it. When the goal is reached, the performer does whatever was promised. It's collaborative and creates a sense of community in the room.
Free vs Paid
Here's the thing most people don't realize: you can watch most cam rooms completely free. The free public shows are the main content. Tokens are for tipping (requests), private shows (1-on-1), and spy shows (watching someone else's private).
You can spend zero dollars and still have a full experience. But if you want to interact or make requests, you'll need tokens.

Wish I had this guide when I started. I bought tokens and had no idea how the math worked for like a week.
Quick tip: the 200 token package at $20.99 is terrible value. Always buy the bigger packages if you can.
Honestly you can enjoy cam sites perfectly fine without ever spending money. The public rooms are the main show.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. Wanted to keep it simple for new viewers.
